NewsAs I often say in my journals, it has been over a year since my last entry.

Life hasn't quite turned out as my last journal entry had suggested it would, either out of my own stupidity or genius I haven't figured out which yet. To summarise things: I was offered a place on Bournemouth University's 'Computer Animation and Visualisation' course; I accepted the offer; I met the university's required qualifications; I spent my entire summer working full-time for a games developer; I cancelled my offer with Bournemouth in favour of taking a year out of education.
Why the hell did I do such a thing, you might ask. The only genuine answer that I can give is that the course didn't feel right for me. I've had time since cancelling the offer to ponder over my predicament and I am beginning to feel positive about my decision.
I have several university interviews lined up this year for courses that I feel are better suited to my interests and capabilities. I'm really rooting for De Montfort University's 'Game Art Design' course. It sounds perfect for me. One particular reason that I am more pleased with this choice than I was with Bournemouth University's 'Computer Animation and Visualisation' course is that this course has a stronger focus on the art side of 3D modelling with life drawing and concept art being taught initially and 3D modelling coming in later modules. The only drawback to the course is that the department use 3DS Max on Windows computers when I tend to prefer using Maya on a Mac. It doesn't matter though; it would be very petty of me to turn down a course purely because of the programs that are used.
I mentioned in my last journal entry that I had, at the time, just failed my driving test for a second time. It is now a year later and I have booked in my third test for next month. I have gained a lot of experience since my last attempt and am now equipped with confidence, something that is very hard to build-up when first learning to drive.
And with that, I sign off.
Thanks to everyone who

's me for doing so.
